I had always wanted to work in an environment where I would get to put my skills to good use and make an actual change, while learning and acquiring more skills along the way. The Department of Water and Sanitation [DWS] was exactly the placement I hoped for. It was everything I wanted from a first job.
Being an Environmental Officer had always been a dream of mine. Its been inspiring working daily with experienced Environmental Officers as I get to see first-hand what this job entails. We hold meetings with people applying for water use licensing, we go to site to do inspections, we have presentations, we issue licenses. I have learned so much in the last few months being here, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
Participating in this programme has made me become more aware of what I really want for my career and how I can go about achieving it.”
